Whitby Town Stinks – Raw Sewerage In Harbour

Raw sewerage has been seen spilling into Whitby Harbour over the past couple of days with visitors and locals complaining about the awful stench around the town centre.

Sanitary Towels At Tin Ghaut Slipway

With heavy rains flooding the local sewage system over the weekend it wasn’t long before the pressure backed up the system and the man hole cover at Tin Ghaut was breached with Raw Sewage spilling straight into the river. At tea time yesterday (Sunday) Sanitary towels, durex and toilet roll was observed spilling into the harbour.

Visitors to the town, and anglers attending the summer angling festival were soon complaining about the horrible smell that had permeated the air around the town centre. The harbour had also turned a horrid grey colour as the sewerage was pushed up the harbour by the incoming tide.
