The ‘ Rohilla’ – Disaster of 1914 will be remembered on July 12th 2015 during Whitby Sea Festival ,as The Ghosts Of Heroes Project present ‘Songs from ‘Stormbound’. All of the songs from the show, now available on CD, will be featured along with several excerpts from the play written last year to commemorate the centenary of the dIsaster.
There will be performances from Caedmon College Musicians Polly Buxton and Isabel Mastrolonardo with contributions from Eskdale School Drama Students Sam Gower and Harry Reeves.
Festival Director Jeanette Grainger said ‘ it will give many folk the opportunity to sample the music and drama of STORMBOUND and may hopefully encourage them to come and see the full show which we plan to perform later in the year’.
Already certain to be included are Festival Musicians Chris Parkinson, Sara Dennis, Richard Grainger, Shanty Group- Monkeys Fist, Men Of Staithes, actors Iain McNicol, Karen Mason and narrator Ivan Hall.
Jeanette added ‘ We are pleased that the festival is starting to capture the imagination of local people and hope that they’ll be inspired to take part in some way next year. When we celebrate the sea,we celebrate Whitby’
