Whitby Flooded In Torrential Downpour 04-01-2016

Torrential rain caused problems across Whitby this evening (04-01-2016) with many commercial business around town effects. In the town centre the usual problem of blocked drains saw the Bagdale Beck come up into the street as it has done on numerous occasions before.

In Sandsend The Hart Inn was flooded with Rain water washing into the building from the bank behind the pub.

Homebase Car Park looked severely effected but staff could be seen inside working hard to make sure the water didn’t get inside the shop.

Stainsacre Lane was closed to traffic in the usual place near the entrance to the water treatment works opposite Homebase.

The Ruswarp to sleights road on the cars was also closed to traffic due to flooding.
