JANE KENYON: POLICE MISCONDUCT UPDATE (IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST)
Following Tim Hick’s detailed account of crimes committed by Councillor Kenyon (released first Real Whitby readers on Sunday 9th July 2012), the investigative magazine PRIVATE EYE has run an exposé in today’s issue.
The article appears in their “Rotten Boroughs” column – Fleet Street’s pre-eminent investigative forum, dedicated to exposing Local Government corruption.
Hicks commented:
“I feel deeply saddened, following the series of corruption scandals surrounding Chief Police Officers in North Yorkshire – some of which remain unresolved – that ordinary rank-and-file Police officers and civilian staff of North Yorkshire Police have been let down so badly by a member of their senior management so soon on the heels of the Chief Constable Grahame Maxwell humiliation.
The North Yorkshire Police Authority is led by a person whom the Police Authority openly admits has committed a criminal offence – an offence punishable by disbarrment from being a Councillor Astonishingly, the NYPA deems this is ‘a minor infraction’.
Only the existence of a high level cover-up within the authority, including the collusion of Monitoring Officers, has prevented Councillor Kenyon’s arrest. Yet Councillor Kenyon has not even offered an apology.
As a result of Councillor Kenyon’s refusal to resign and the failure of the Police Authority to take the appropriate action, North Yorkshire Police is now the only Police force in the civilised world where the person in charge of maintaining standards and holding the police to account, is openly admitted to have committed one criminal offence and is maintaining her right to silence in respect of other well-documented allegations of criminal offences.
This makes Councillor Kenyon, North Yorkshire Police and the North Yorkshire Police Authority a national laughing stock.
Councillor Kenyon has brought North Yorkshire and North Yorkshire Police into national –perhaps international – disrepute and failed utterly in her duty as a Councillor not to bring the Authorities on which she serves into disrepute.
Her only honourable course of action now is to resign.”
Tim Hick’s relentless investigation into corruption in North Yorkshire Police and on the Police Authority is continuing. My information is that there are to be further revelations of the gravest kind concerning another member of the authority towards the end of the week.

Not a big Facebook fan Glen, but,
Are you coming here and clicking like and then leaving again? I have to admit I do accept that invitation to “like”, and if I feel I can contribute a factual comment then I will.
Do Whitby people care? I think there is a minority that do care, possibly because their caring nature has caused them to question what appear to be uncaring decisions affecting Whitby, that are being made by a remotely based SBC, who rely on the apathy of an apparent majority, (who clearly don’t care enough), to carry out those decisions.
Do you think Real Whitby is right in running these stories? In an ideal world there should be no need to run any critical articles, unfortunately the facts brought to light, by those who do care, show that those who are entrusted to run our society are apparently not fit to do so. Real Whitby is the only local platform that will allow public and factual criticism, I hope that policy will continue.
Come on Whitby people lets hear from you. Sorry but, as a Scarborian, I fail to meet that criteria, however I do agree with much of what is written on this site, particularly by those who wish Whitby to run itself, as I think that Scarborough too would benefit from “devolution”.

There is no public question time at full council meetings. The
Council’s constitution only allows Elected Members to ask questions
and states:
Members may only ask a question under Rule 10.2 if either:
(a) they have given at least 2 clear days notice in writing of the question to
the Chief Executive; or
(b) the question relates to urgent matters, they have the consent of the
Mayor, and notice of the question in writing is given to the Chief
Executive by 10.00 am on the day of the meeting.

The problem the authorities have here is that Dear Jane appears to be the lynch-pin of the crime syndicate running North Yorkshire. If she goes down, rest assured she will turn Queen’s evidence to minimise the damage to herself.
Where does that leave the rest of them?
