Dear Mr Goodwill

I am surprised by the response in your letter to Julian Armitage about Councillor Jane Kenyon and other aspects of services and the council in North Yorkshire. Your assertions are clearly incorrect based on a great deal of information in the public domain. This information clearly calls into question the enquiries undertaken and the judgements made.

It is my belief that in rehearsing platitudes and ignoring the many known facts in Mr. Armitage’s letter, and in many other places, you are abrogating your responsibility as a member of Parliament, which I am sure is not your intention. I’m sure you agree that corruption wherever it lies is unacceptable, but is heinous when in the service of the public.

I would therefore expect that you will treat this matter with greater seriousness, not just for the people of Scarborough and North Yorkshire but the name of democracy in this country.

Yours

Graham Pirt

Succint and to the point, the more voices added means those who are elected to uphold the views of the public who put them there have to be listened to and not fobbed off with platitudes or silence.

    Dear Mr Goodwill,

I am very disappointed not to have received a reply from you, regarding my email about the Olympics, which I sent some three weeks ago.

I would still like a response to that please, but I would also like to kow why you have remained silent about the allegations regarding Jane Kenyon. As far as I am aware, Ms Kenyon has committed criminal offences, which can be tracked in the public domain. There is very strong evidence that Ms Kenyon should not have even stood for most of the offices she holds or has held, as she has effectively been a bankrupt in the State of California, for some thirty years.

This woman currently holds influence over several important bodies and it is completely unacceptable that our local MP remains silent on this matter. May I remind you that your job as an MP is to represent the constituents of Scarborough and Whitby, not The Conservative Party nor the interests of your Conservative Party colleagues.

That Ms Kenyon will be brought to justice is not in any doubt. I have already received the relevant permissions to commence a private prosecution, should the local constabulary continue to protect this woman from the very law they are supposed to uphold.

I am aware that many people have written to you regarding this matter and according to them, not a single one has received a response. I must advise you that if this is true and you continue to set your own personal agenda rather than represent the best interests of your constituents, then steps will be set in progress to have you removed from office.

    Kind regards

    What is Roberts problem?

The man was elected by people who expect him to serve their interests.

Where is the benefit in protecting a woman who, according to the public record, is a crook?

    Perhaps Robert could answer this.

I suspect he reads this blog and it might be clever for him to answer publicly. If he’s brave enough.

    Dear Steve

I had not appreciated that the wristbands were for anti bullying in schools. I would be for this only if Eastfield Parish Councillors were made to wear them as 10 Parish Councillors bullying and disrespecting 1 Parish Councillor is totally unacceptable and should no longer be tolerated. It has gone on for too long. We should lead by example, not provide a plastic wrist band to students. It is meaningless without example by leaders in the community.

Residents and youths have witnessed the blatant bullying against me and so if it is ok for elected representatives to bully others, then they see it as ok for them.

I would like this information published so that schools are aware that Parish Councils, Borough Councils and County Councils and North Yorkshire Police support bullying when it is adults. Therefore a senseless campaign for schools.

I will also be contacting the local schools with information about bullying and a wristband is not the answer. It is examples by adults to not support bullying. Unfortunately the police are aware of members of the community living in fear of reprisal due to neighbourhood bullying and threats which the police are powerless to prevent.

So no, Steve, I do not think that residents if they knew what the money was for, would support this. I will ensure residents are made aware of this intention for the council to waste their precept funds and request that £500 is replaced into tax payers pockets. Shameful waste of residents money.

Furthermore, the £5,000 allocated to the Library is also a waste of money. Activities already take place there. It is a case of The Chairman deciding to look benevolent to the community by making them pay extra precept funding for something he had no idea on what to spend it on in the first place.

This was proved when Cllr Parsons produced a costed report on how to spend the money – without any idea who would deliver the project, and even included a project which is already run freely by NYCC!!! Also Cllr Parsons refused to identify who would deliver the projects, so therefore it must have been her organisation (prejudicial interest not declared in the meeting and a criminal offence) which provided the costings. I cannot continue to let the public be misled by this council. I will ensure information is widely published so they are aware how inept the Chair is in supporting a fellow councillor in her personal organisation by funding it out of Parish precepts. This, too, is illegal. Parish councillors should not benefit financially for their role as a councillor. That is against the rules, Mr Section 10 of the Standing Orders.

I will no longer let the community be lied to so that Eastfield Parish Council can bully me and slander me and bring my honest reputation into disrepute.

Furthermore, Cllr Zegstroo – please let me know how I have broken the law? A statement you made in public. When I asked you what laws I broke – you walked away? Please all stop being silly and lying.

Do the right thing. Do what residents want and not what you want.

Cllr Cooper – if I have upset you you by saying this, or any other councillor – the truth hurts. What you have all done to me with your attacks, bullying, discrimination, prejudice and lies is shameful. The fact you won’t even speak to me in meetings, lie to me in public and then retract what you say is despicable.

I understand from the Chairman of Osgodby Parish Council that the allotment space they owned was offered to Eastfield Parish Council but Cllr Simpson refused it because he said there was no demand!!!! Someone is lying. Why does Cllr Parsons organisation, Incredible Edible Eastfield (or whatever name it is being changed to these days) is involved in EVERYTHING? Is it so she can receive funding to pay for her Link Walk premises and funding for her expenses, food, hair appointments, clothes, etc?

I don’t know. The public don’t know. Because Cllr Parsons and Cllr Elliott and Cllr Simpson have never disclosed where or how public funding has been spent in support of this organisation/s. One of which was struck off and dissolved in March 2011 by Companies House. The plaque for this company is still on the door of the Link Walk Centre but apparently it is no longer a company therefore does not need to disclose its accounts to anyone, even if funded by parish precepts. Deplorable. Please could you prove me wrong. So far, I have proved you all wrong.

I look forward to the mediation meetings with you all held by the Human Resources Manager of SBC for you to provide the following:

    1. What have I ever done wrong against any one of you?
    2. Why are you prejudiced against me?
    3. Why do you continue to bully, threaten, dismiss, exclude and lie to me and about me?
    4. Will Cllrs Elliot, Parsons and Simpson disclose how they have spent the public funds when used through Incredible Edible, Eastfield Residents Association, NewERA, Voice your choice funding, and any other organisation, including Eastfield Neighbourhood Partnership?
    5. Why are only the same councillors involved in committees, steering groups, etc? Cllrs Parsons, Elliott, Zegstroo, Vickers, Jackson, Evans, T White and J White and Simpson? All with prejudicial interests in those groups.
    6. Answers please.

    All

At the last meeting I was asked to find out the cost of the wrist bands the Police are using as part of their anti bullying campaign at Graham/Raincliffe schools. PC Brewster informs me that she purchased 2500 wrist bands with the logo’s on them for £500 which works out at 20p each. She also mentions that she is trying to get the various schools to donate something towards the project and she has already received a donation from the Richard Fox memorial fund – she then hopes to order in bulk and then get them cheaper.

Jane Kenyon, as Chair of the North Yorkshire Police Authority, Chair of the North Yorkshire Police Authority Management Board, North Yorkshire County Councillor, Scarborough Borough Councillor, and Portfolio holder for Finance, Procurement and Legal (SBC) must be ware that everything that she does will always be under scrutiny.
The conduct of anyone in her position should like Caesar’s wife, be above suspicion,
“Meos tam suspicion quam crimine iudicio carere opertere” ,
“My wife must be as free from suspicion of a crime as she is from the crime itself”.
Her actions, at all times, should be informed by reflection upon how that conduct might be portrayed by The Press, or, in a court of law, and what inferences a jury might draw from that portrayal.
Furthermore, the associates of public figures must also be persons of unblemished character and again, must not be even suspected of wrongdoing.
There is an increasing acceptance of immoral and unethical conduct as being normal, but it is not normal and it is not acceptable, especially in anyone who is in office as a representative of the people.
If the trust and confidence of the community is to be regained by the North Yorkshire Police Force, and maintained by the North Yorkshire County Council, and the Scarborough Borough Council and if the credibility of the Conservative Party is to be preserved, then, the correct course of action is for Miss Kenyon to resign from all of her public offices.
Her failure to refute the various allegations which have been made about her, has inevitably turned public opinion against her, it is now time for her to make a decision as to her future, prevarication will serve neither her interests, nor those of the public bodies on which she serves, nor the people whom she represents.

In general I know little of Whitby’s local issues, I live at Eastfield which hardly considers itself part of the Borough of Scarborough never mind being under the same laughable administration as Whitby, but it is good that unexplained, or explained away, practices on the part of our representatives is in a large part being covered by these pages. A few of us have tried querying certain acts and performances by our elected representatives at all levels of Government in the ‘greater’ Scarborough area on the Scarborough News website just to find that some of our comments or questions, not libelous or untrue, are being arbitrarily censored, presumably by the webmaster or his/her superiors. The only obvious reason why this is happening is that the ‘editor’ doesn’t agree or doesn’t like the direction that some of these comments could lead us. I used to do a regular, fortnightly, commentary for the, presumably now defunct, Top Trader in my ‘political’ days. The alternate weeks were written by Dave Beck on behalf of the Conservative Party. When Scarborough & Whitby Constituency Labour Party were asked to nominate someone to put their point of view, needless to say we were delighted. After a few weeks it became obvious that some subtle editing was going on. The final straw was when I referred to the Labour Party bringing in ‘one member one vote’ in leadership elections. In the published version this was changed to ‘one man one vote’, opening the floodgates for several Conservative grandees, including their then agent, to write complaining about the sexism rife in the Labour Party. At this point I quit and the column died. Shortly after this the counter-column died too.

So once again ‘Real Whitby’ thank you for allowing the voters a voice, in addition to a cross on a piece of paper every few years.

It’s just a shame that somebody from the town (as opposed to Borough) of Scarborough, or an Eastfield Parish Councillor like Ms. Gerada (and which I once was but resigned from in disgust) has to encroach on the good services of a Whitby site to make a point.

    @Sarraceniac:

Thank you very much for your contribution to our debate. It is most encouraging to see that seasoned and informed observers are now turning to Real Whitby to share their knowledge and experiences. I look forward to your comments in the future and I hope to read your reaction to my next article – on-line here at Real Whitby this evening. You will be unsurprised to learn that more and more Councillors and former Councillors are raising their heads above the parapet over these corruption issues. I hope that this trend continues.

    Dear Mr. Pirt,

Thank you for your e-mail of 5th August. I can assure you that not long after the 2005 general election the issues raised in connection with Councillor Kenyon were raised with me and I made enquiries with the relevant authorities to ensure that they had been looked into. They were addressed at that time and I can assure you that nothing has changed since.

The continuing campaign against Councillor Kenyon is, I believe, a vindictive personal campaign and indeed Mr. Clark, who raised some of these concerns, has been expelled from a Police Authority Meeting for being completely unreasonable in pressing these claims and allegations which had been fully investigated by various authorities.

Thank you for your letter. I do take this with a great deal of seriousness however, I do believe that those who work in the public eye and who do give valuable service to their communities should not be allowed to be persecuted and harangued by a small group of somewhat fixated individuals who continue to make allegations, despite their validity being completely refuted.

    Thank you.
