Had a really good evening meal in here, for a packed pub the service was up to scratch, food was good..even hubby liked it and thats saying something!
Nice atmosphere/setting/interior. Average prices for a pub.

First of all I should declare that I once worked for the owner ( leaseholder ) of this pub, though not at the Duke Of York. What I do know is that once a recipe is accepted as been good, the staff must stick to this precise recipe, I know this was the case for Chilli for example.
The thing about The Duke Of York is that it is consistent, it has been generaly very good for a lot of years, the Fish & Chips are good, very generous portions of cod, the salads are good and the home made meals are tasty and generous in size. I happen to run a B&B these days and I have yet to hear a bad report from a guest concerning The Duke Of York.
