Celebrating the natural world on our doorstep Exhibition By Dennis Roddam

Art works and ceramics by award-winning wildlife artist Dennis Roddam go on display at the

Inspired by… gallery from 19 September. Inspired by his childhood adventures in the North York Moors, his art focuses on the smaller natural wonders that are sometimes overlooked, rather than large panoramic views. North Yorkshire Naturally is open daily until Sunday 12 October and entry is free.
From woodcuts to lino cuts, watercolours to ceramics his art captures close-up observations of local wildlife including birds, mammals, insects and flowers. All the work – including cards and coasters – is available to buy.

Dennis said:

“Living on the edge of the North York Moors, I am fortunate in that I can spend a lot of my time in this wonderful countryside. I have exhibited at the Inspired by… gallery and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.”

As well as exhibiting widely, Dennis’ work has been regularly shown at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Artists, where he won the ‘Birds Birds Birds’ gallery award. He has also had work accepted for the Artist & Leisure Painter Patchings Exhibition (winning the prestigious ‘David & Charles Award’), and also qualified as a finalist in the BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year competition.

People visiting the gallery on 20 September between 12 and 3pm will get an opportunity to meet Dennis and find out more about his work. His exhibition is running concurrently with ‘Changing Places’ which showcases the work of mixed media artist Bridget Wilkinson and paintings and ceramics by Meg Ashley.

The Inspired by… gallery is at The Moors National Park Centre, Danby which is open daily from 10.00am to 5pm with free entry. Information on forthcoming exhibitions can be found at www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/events
